Bishop David Visits St Christopher's Wednesday 9th
November, 2011
On Wednesday 9th
November Bishop David, our Suffragan (Assistant) Bishop will be paying us a
brief visit. He is a good friend of St Christopher’s and visited on 3
occasions in the past. He will be meeting the Roman Catholic Bishop of
Tortosa to thank him for his generosity in allowing us to use his churches
and to pave the way for good relations in the future. Since the Church
Council is due to meet in Vinaros at 11am on that day, Bishop David will be
celebrating Holy Communion in Portico at 10.30am and anyone from the parish
is welcome to join us for that.
http://www.eurobishop.blogspot.com/
During his visit Bishop David was
thrilled at news that St Christopher is to have its first ever Reader (an
office previously known as Lay Readers) after the Church Council approved
Jenny Hoskins to go forward for selection and training.
On
completion of this training Jenny will have formal powers to lead worship
and assist in the church and will be a great blessing in the future.
Also at Church
Council Brenda Beech, Jenny Legg and Mike Ling were welcomed
as Worship Leaders. Along with our existing Worship leader in Alcossebre
Anne Hornett
They will be
officially welcomed to the role shortly and will begin to take a part in
our public worship.

Alcossebre Meeting 23rd October, 2011
At a recent meeting in Alcossebre Paul reported on progress in finding a new
Priest-in-Charge from next year. The meeting considered the challenges we
all face in keeping our church life vibrant and glorifying to God. A summary
information sheet is available for each congregation.
A training session last week has resulted in 3 potential new Worship Leaders
and a vocation for training as a Reader in the Church – the ministry
formerly known as Lay Reader.
These vocations will be discussed by the Church Council on Wednesday.
During the 23rd October's Sunday’s service, Paul
updated people in Alcossebre on progress in finding a new Priest-in-Charge
from next year. The meeting considered the challenges we all face in keeping
our church life vibrant and glorifying to God. A summary information sheet
is available in Vinaros and Alcossebre.

Steven &
Gill Nichols Leaving Party
Friday 14th
October, 2011
On Friday the 14th October approx 50 of Stephen and Gill´s friends from
the Alcocessbre, Ampolla and Vinaros congregations plus the Alcossebre Choir
met at Portico in Vinaros to wish them Bon Voyage.
During their time in Spain they have been stalwarts of the Vinaros
congregation with Stephen as a Worship Leader and Gill helping in the ´drop
in´centre. In addition both were involved in the Alcossebre Choir.
They will be missed by all of their friends.
In the picture we
see Paul presenting a Cheque to them in appreciation for their work from The
Church members, which we feel sure will be used maybe to keep them warm
during the winter months back in the UK (Only Joking) |

Helping to feed the Hungry
We are all aware of the
effects of drought and famine in Somalia. We have
sent 500 Euros from St Christopher’s to the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal as part
of our committed charity giving. If church members feel able to offer
additional help in a personal capacity we would encourage you to do what you
can to relieve a horrendous situation in
Africa. |

Edrick & Claire Corban Banks ~ Classical Concert with a supporting
cast of Josh and Zoe
What a Fantastic night it was in all 3
Congregations
In Alcossebre alone there were 88 people
both Spanish & English who enjoyed listening to works from Bach, Giuliani,
Massenet, Tarrega, Marcelo and Spanish Music. I know that the other events
were also well supported.
There was a retiring collection and the
proceeds will be split between the Anglican Church and a Local Charity.
What a talented family, we shall all miss
them when they go on the the 5th June and we wish them lots of good wishes
for the future
See you in NZ
Comment from Rev. Paul Needle
Edrick, Claire, Joshua and
Zoe set off to return to New Zealand after our services today.
We thank them for their
contribution to the church life and ministry and wish them well as their own
ministry develops.
Their musical gifts have
been much appreciated and their healing ministry last weekend was also
blessed by God.
Special thanks for the
series of concerts they gave which were much appreciated and resulted in
several hundred Euros raised for our Mission Development Fund.
This is to prepare for the
higher costs of maintaining ministry in St Christopher’s in the future and
for the purchase of Casa John Phillips - accommodation in Vinaros for locum
priests at present and for a future Priest-in-Charge.
