A number of the congregation were privileged to be shown some of the Battle sites of the Spanish Civil War.  Our Guide was Brian Hall from Ampollo and the administrative work was done mainly by his wife Janet.

We must all complement them both for a most comprehensive visit, Brian is an authority on the subject. There were 37 of us and we all agree that it we saw some of the sites where the most horrific Battles took place.

We understand that there maybe another trip soon and for those who missed this one you should try and go on the next.  Do watch the Diary.

The two sides of the tributes.

It is fitting that we visited at this time because we were so near to our own remembrance  service this weekend Sunday the 8th November.

The evening air in L'Ampolla echoed to the strains of many well loved English harvest hymns, as the Anglican Church held its annual Harvest Festival service in the packed village church. The Rev Paul Needle - based in Alcossebre - reminded us that not only must we be thankful for the harvest of the field and sea, but also the rich harvest of blessings which God has bestowed on us all.  Towards the end of the service, the local singers The Decibels entertained an appreciative congregation.

Shortly after the church service, a steady stream of people walked to the Salón Parroquial where they enjoyed good company, and an excellent Harvest Supper, thanks to the hard work of a dedicated team of helpers, who had prepared supper for over a hundred hungry friends.
